This is a five day course, with a City & Guilds (NPTC) assessment on the sixth day. During the course, candidates will be shown methods of tree climbing, working around the canopy, and will learn how to perform an aerial rescue. There are no prerequisites for this assessment.
During the course candidates will cover:
- Health & Safety requirements, including current legislation, PPE, safe operation, and Risk Assessments
- A thorough kit check and knowledge
- A thorough Visual Tree Assessment (VTA)
- Various ascending methods to gain access into the tree, including throw lines, footlocking, and body-thrust techniques using friction hitches, and spiking
- A range of knots
- Basic First Aid and emergency procedures
- A range of techniques to rescue a casualty from a tree
